ABOUT THE ARTIST – Ana Ivis Maxwell
Ana Ivis Maxwell (Annie) was born in Guines, Cuba. At the age of 10 she immigrated to the United States with her parents and sister. The family settled in Miami, Florida. This experience provided her with a profound understanding of the Caribbean with an American insight, which influences her work deeply. Annie was aware of her artistic abilities and aspirations at a young age, but found little time to pursue such yearnings. Over the past several years, she has been able to accomplish her artistic dreams by receiving encouragement, support and drawing strength from her husband, three daughters and son. She has attended various art schools to enrich her artistic growth, and has furthered her studies under the tutorship of noted masters from Cuba, Colombia and Spain.
